The Youth Symphony Orchestra of Russia, led by the internationally lauded violist and conductor Yuri Bashmet, makes its highly anticipated Asian debut in Singapore on Wednesday, 12 September 2018.
Formed in 2012, the Orchestra has performed throughout Russia including the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, and at the concert halls of Berlin, Brussels, Geneva and Vienna to critical acclaim. The concert will see 100 young musicians handpicked from auditions in cities across Russia that is set to thrill Singaporeans with their transcendent, breathtaking performance. It is produced by CultureLink Singapore and the Russian Concert Agency and held in conjunction with NUS Arts Festival 2018. The Singaporean violin prodigy, Chloe Chua will be gracing the performance as a guest soloist and this is her first orchestral appearance after her first-prize win in the Junior Category at the Menuhin Competition in April this year. At just 11 years of age, the young violinist is set to dazzle the audience with her poise, stage confidence and musical maturity, in the delightful Vivaldi double violin concerto with Tatiana.
