Our Parenting World visited The Right Choice Family Fest on the 18 March 2015 and we had participated in the various activities to find out more about making The Right Choice when it comes to making our family’s food choices.
There were four activities stations for you to complete in order to redeem a goodie bag. Each child was given an activity postcard, and will receive a stamp upon completing the activity at each station.
First station that we visited was Fish It! where you were required to fish up the correct food items.
Next activity station, Mystery Box where you were required to touch and take out the correct food item in the box. Our youngest team member managed to take out the correct food item, carrot where he was cheered by the friendly helpers at the activity station.
At the Scoop Them Up activity station, kids had fun scooping up the correct food items.
At the Healthy Plate, Healthy Me activity station, kids get to ‘plate’ the correct item into the wheel.
Through all these activities, kids had a better understanding of the different types of food and how it will benefit them by making the correct food choices.
The event was well received with many parents bringing their children to each activity station to take part in its activities and to find out more about the various food groups that will help them make a better decision when it comes to choosing the right food items for their family to have a healthier lifestyle. It had been a fun, meaningful and educating experiences for the whole family!
Our team met Amanda Phoon who has started this meaningful initiative together with her team members Chek Yin Kuan, Crystal Chng and Huang Shuqun from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University. It is such a pleasure knowing these outstanding and brilliant students!
