illumi, the world’s largest light, sound, and multimedia event, is proud to unveil its first-ever original theme song, ‘Light In You’. Developed specially for the festive Christmas period, the song’s uplifting melody, heartfelt lyrics, and vibrant arrangement perfectly capture the magic and wonder of the illumi experience. Released just in time for the highly anticipated Christmas edition of illumi, running from 22 November 2024 to 6 January 2025, the song and its accompanying music video invite audiences to embrace the joy, imagination, and connection that illumi inspires.
The song was conceptualised and performed by husband-and-wife duo Tay Kewei and Alfred Sim, both renowned artists in Singapore’s music scene. Describing the creative process, the pair shared their vision of crafting a joyful and vibrant piece that evokes a sense of childlike wonder. “The song is about creating unforgettable moments with your loved ones,” Kewei explained. “It’s a world of imagination and fantasy that allows us to relive our childhood as we explore the different magical worlds of illumi.”
Written collaboratively, the song represents a blend of the duo’s creative strengths. Designed specifically for the Christmas period, the melody seamlessly complements the whimsical and enchanting world of illumi, evoking a festive and magical atmosphere.
“What makes this song special is that it’s our first original English duet in this genre,” said Alfred. “We wanted to encapsulate the magic of nightfall welcomed by thousands of sparkling lights, as well as the dreamy essence of the illumi worlds. It’s uplifting, joyful, and celebrates the wonder of being together with your loved ones.”
The illumi theme song also marks a milestone for the artists, who have never before written music for a light installation. “It ties all the different aspects of illumi together and serves as a befitting theme song for the experience,” Kewei added.
