Our Parenting World, Gor Gor and Di Di continued on our next mission to look for more Christmas fun activities in Singapore suitable for the whole family! We are here at Universal Studio Singapore which is one of the most popular and favourite theme parks in Singapore and the region.
The boys are so excited : “Universal Studio, here we come!”
Goodnews from 1 December 2014 to 4 January 2015, Universal Studio Singapore has extended its opening hours from 10am to 9pm. That’s not all, this year, Universal Studio has lined up a series of Christmas celebrations for all to enjoy and have lots of fun during this holiday seasons.
Our Parenting World team listed a number of Christmas highlights to look out for at Universal Studio Singapore:

Experience the biggest snowfall on the hour daily at Hollywood, New York and Sci-Fi zones throughout the day.
Snowfall During the Day:
The kids are thrilled to see snow flakes falling and for Di Di, he has not experienced snow before and he has been running around trying to catch hold of the snow falling.
Snowfall During the Night:
The snowfall looks even more spectacular and dreamy during the night. With each snowfall, it never fails to thrill the visitors especially the young ones. Many were seen playing and trying to catch the snow.
Universal Studios Singapore will showcase Singapore’s biggest snowfall at the three themed zones, namely Hollywood, New York and Sci-Fi City. Visitors will be able to experience magical snow every hour every day.

Look out for Sesame Street Show Times which is held at the stage in front of the New York Public Library and based on the program schedules on our visit, there are 2 performances in the afternoon at 1pm and 4.50pm. Do check out the latest program timing conveniently located near the stage area.
The Sesame Street show features Ernie, Grover, Elmo and Bert live on stage. It is a fun and enjoyable show that many including children will be up on their feet and dancing with the Sesame Street characters. Do try to be at the stage area at least 10 minutes earlier to get a good view as you will expect a huge crowd forming around show time.
After the show, do stay and queue for photo taking opportunities with your favourite Sesame Street characters. The boys love Elmo!
Another highlight is the giant Christmas Tree at the centre stage in front of the New York Public Library and if you look closely, it is made entirely of plush toys!

Can’t get enough of Sesame Street! Good news, introducing one of the two brand new shows this season, Sesame Street Saves Christmas is back by popular demand. This time the show returns with a bigger stage for more magical moments at Pantages Hollywood Theater. Based on the timing schedule of our visit, the showtimes are at 12:15pm, 2.45pm, 5.30pm and 7.40pm. Do check out the latest timing at Pantages Hollywood Theater.
Telling an original Christmas tale, this live Sesame Street show features how the Sesame Street gang helps Santa and his elves keep Christmas out of jeopardy! Audience will enjoy this highly enjoyable and engaging show. We are in Christmas mood already!

Introducing the second show of the two brand new shows this season is Santa’s Toy Soldiers.
Watch the adorable Santa’s Toy Soldiers come to life as they march to the beat of the drums to the centre stage in front of the New York Public Library and dance to the delight of the audience.
The performances will take place twice every evening and based on the timing of our visit, the performances is held at 7.15pm and 8.30pm. Please do check the latest timing of the performances near to the stage.
Do stay back after the performances for photo taking opportunities with the lovable Santa’s Toy Soldiers.

The dazzling and spectacular Dancing Christmas Light Show and Winter Tales that everyone will enjoy watching!
Don’t miss the Dancing Christmas Light Show and the video-mapping show, Winter Tales all located at the centre stage of the New York Public Library. Both shows will take place three times every night.

How can Christmas celebrations be completed without everyone’s favourite Santa Claus?
Ho Ho Ho … Santa Claus is having a chat with Gor Gor and Di Di before taking photo with them. Visitors can catch hold of Santa Claus and take pictures with him during the scheduled meet and greet session, timing is subject to change, please do check the program schedules during your visit.
Don’t miss Christmas Fireworks Spectacular which is set to light up the night with new music and pyrotechnics. Happening every Friday and Saturday for the month of December and with an additional show on Christmas Day!
To complete the Christmas experience, guests can choose to stay in the park for a Christmas feast complete with festive goodies like turkey and traditional sweets at Santa’s Kitchen. For the first time, Sound Stage 28 will be transformed into a festive dining hall serving up a delectable Christmas dinner buffet with a special appearance by Christmas characters.

If you have watched the movies from the Despicable Me series and absolutely adore the cute little Minions, check out the “Meet The Minions” schedule for photo taking opportunities and the cute little Minions are all decked out in their Christmas outfits.
The ever-popular Transformers Ride, how would the boys miss it?
Special mention is that this is the first time Di Di took the ride as his previous visits to Universal Studio, he has not reached the height requirement yet. He has to wait reluctantly for his older brother outside as he is not tall enough to take most of the rides. To celebrate his first ride, he decided to wear his Transformers T-shirt and bought toys at the store. Initially we were worried that he will be frightened by the 3D high speed, thrill ride but no, he totally enjoyed the ride and even went back for more!

Height restriction for guests must be at least 102cm to take the ride. Children 102cm to 122cm must be accompanied by an adult.
Another one that Di Di would like to take after he has met the height requirement is Madagascar: A Crate Adventure. Join the four heroes Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria from DreamWorks Animation’s blockbuster movie Madagascar on an unforgettable river boat ride adventure.

Height restriction for guests under 80cm may not ride. Children between 80cm and 122cm must be accompanied by an adult.
Look what’s that? It’s a real dinosaur? Catch this fearsome looking Dinosaur at the Jurassic Park.
Di Di is also looking forward to take this river raft ride at the Jurassic Park after meeting the height requirement. It is a combination of outdoor and indoor ride, this water-based ride is based on Steven Spielberg’s movie, Jurassic Park. Please remember to bring your raincoat or you can purchase one at the park and take care of your belongings as water will be splashing at some parts of the ride.

The height requirement applies for guests under 107cm may not ride. Children between 107cm and 122cm must be accompanied by an adult.
Treasure Hunters is an outdoor motor car ride that is suitable for the whole family. Young treasure hunters get to ride on vintage motor car for an exciting visit through an abandoned excavation area.

To take this ride, children under 122cm must be accompanied by a supervising adult.
Still can’t get enough of Sesame Street, join the boys as they embark on an adventure with the Sesame Street super heroes at Spaghetti Space Chase.

To take the ride, you have to be at least 92cm and children between 92cm and 122cm must be accompanied by a supervising adult.
Di Di cannot resist the cute huggable Sesame Street toys and wanted to buy some for himself and for his cousins as Christmas presents. Good idea!
As he was poising and choosing the toys, the visitors at the store were looking at him and saying “So cute, so cute!” Aww … thank you. Di Di expressed his thanks!
Feeling tired and hungry after having so much fun at the theme park, hop over to the many F&B outlets located all over the theme park for some rest, to fill up your hungry stomach and recharge your energy before playing some more!

We had our meals at Loui’s NY Pizza Parlor. The children set meal is at $10 each. It comes with a drink, pizza, nuggets with fries and best of all, a Bumble Bee figurine attached to a straw.
Please note that the toy given for the children set meal is different at each venue, please check before you order.
Universal Studio Singapore is a must visit destination with great attractions. We have a fun, unforgettable magical and snowy experiences at the theme park!
We will be back to the theme park soon bringing our overseas relatives who will be visiting us during the Christmas holidays and we are very sure they will have an enjoyable experiences at the theme park like us!

Thanks for sharing. We have just visited Universal Studio and it is really FUN! The snow, Sesame Street performances, Toy Solders and rides are simply awesome. Our children love it!
