Peppermint at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, Singapore, is excited to present the Flavours of Hong Kong buffet, available from 23 August (Dinner) until 30 September 2024. This specially curated dining experience, led by Chef de Cuisine Leon Yee and his talented team, brings the vibrant and comforting tastes of Hong Kong specialities right to the heart of Singapore.
A Nostalgic Gastronomic Journey
The Flavours of Hong Kong buffet is a tribute to the rich culinary heritage of Hong Kong, offering diners a chance to embark on a nostalgic journey through some of the city’s most beloved food traditions. The buffet is divided into several themed stations, each representing a unique aspect of Hong Kong’s diverse culinary landscape.
- The Aberdeen (Fishing Village): This station is a nod to Hong Kong’s coastal roots, featuring the freshest catch of the day. Diners can enjoy dishes like Oyster Porridge and Cold Cuttlefish with Mustard and Soya Sauce, which perfectly capture the essence of the sea.
- Dai Pai Dong (Big Licence Stall): For those who love the hustle and bustle of street food, this station is a must-visit. It offers traditional dishes that are synonymous with Hong Kong’s vibrant street food culture, including the famous Typhoon Shelter Crab, Lobster in Superior Stock, and Steamed Lobster with Garlic.
- The Kowloon Walled City: This station pays homage to the unique history and culinary legacy of the once-densely populated enclave. Signature dishes like Kowloon Walled City Claypot Duck and Salted Duck Egg Chicken Claypot Rice transport diners back to the heart of this legendary district.
- Cha Chaan Teng (Tea Restaurant) & Dim Sum Delights: Relive the cosy charm of Hong Kong’s tea restaurants with a selection of dim sum and classic dishes. Highlights include Cantonese-Western Seafood Baked Rice, Prawn Toast, and Hong Kong Curry Beef Brisket.
- Dessert Station: No Hong Kong culinary experience would be complete without indulging in some of the city’s most beloved sweet treats. The dessert station offers a tempting array of options, including Lotus Paste Sago Pudding, Double Boiled Milk Custard, Bolo Buns, Egg Tarts and many more.
Beyond Hong Kong: A Global Culinary Experience
While the focus of this buffet is on Hong Kong’s culinary delights, Peppermint also offers a wide range of international options to ensure a well-rounded dining experience. Diners can explore the Seafood Island, indulge in fresh sashimi and sushi at the Japanese Station, or enjoy crisp greens at the Salad Bar and many more. This diverse selection ensures that there is something for everyone.
A Commitment to Sustainability
Peppermint is proud to have recently attained the Highest Tier in the Farm-to-Table Recognition Programme by the Singapore Food Agency. This achievement highlights the restaurant’s commitment to sustainability, with at least 15% of the produce sourced locally from three or more food categories. This dedication to using fresh, local ingredients not only supports local farmers but also enhances the quality and flavour of the dishes served.
A Feast for the Senses
The Flavours of Hong Kong buffet at Peppermint is more than just a meal; it’s a culinary journey that takes you through the rich and varied food culture of Hong Kong. The dishes are expertly crafted, each bursting with authentic flavours that transport you straight to the bustling streets and cosy tea houses of Hong Kong.
The Typhoon Shelter Crab was a standout, perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of spice, while the Salted Duck Egg Chicken Claypot Rice offered a comforting, hearty taste that lingered on the palate. The dim sum selection was equally impressive, with the Hong Kong Curry Beef Brisket providing a delightful blend of tender meat and robust curry flavours.
Dessert lovers will not be disappointed either. The Double Boiled Milk Custard was a creamy, delicate treat, and the Egg Tarts were simply sublime, with a flaky crust and smooth, rich filling that melted in the mouth.
