Blue Ant Media, an international content producer, distributor and channel operator, announced today that its homegrown lifestyle specialty channel, Makeful HD, will make its debut in Asia via StarHub TV in Singapore on 31 August, Friday. Expanding the network’s footprint in the region, Makeful is the fourth international channel under the Blue Ant Media umbrella carried by StarHub TV.
Awakening and celebrating the creativity that exists in every individual, the channel features a compelling program line-up to inspire Singaporeans to bring imagination into every aspect of their lives. Makeful will bring its viewers an extensive selection of celebrity-led home improvement programs, and Makeful Originals featuring design, décor, style, crafts, and DIY ideas.
“Together with StarHub TV, we are excited for Makeful’s debut in Asia as we remain committed to bring new and exclusive content to the region. The Singaporean audience will be the first to enjoy the channel outside Canada and this is an important milestone for us, as we are now able to reach and connect with those who are enthusiastic about design, DIY and crafting,” said Beatrice Lee, CEO of Blue Ant Media, Asia Pacific.
Singapore is an ideal launchpad for Makeful’s Asia entry with the nation-state’s global connectivity and dedication to innovation. In the government’s bid to reinvent Singapore’s creative capital, local schools have incorporated the “maker pedagogy” into their school curriculum since 2016, where values such as innovative thinking and risk taking are instilled in Singaporean students. Hence, there is a growing trend towards creative programmes as local viewers develop an appetite for greater viewing inspiration.
The Maker in You
Makeful will team up with local Singaporean makers to empower the community and let more people discover the art of meaningful living, ignite their imaginations and foster creative drive. These talented makers will share their skills and encourage every individual to explore their passions and express their creativity by making something new. Notable makers include furniture upcycling and repurposing enthusiasts Hock Siong & Co.; paper and mixed media craft maker Aida Haron; art and lifestyle brand Love Limzy Co.; bespoke, upcycled, and handmade furniture maker Triple Eyelid Studio; and food artist Little Miss Bento.
These local Singaporean makers will appear on specially created content for the channel to share their craft. Audiences can spot more of them at various Makeful workshops set to happen after the channel launch. These workshops will open up learning opportunities for DIY enthusiasts to experience the joy of making and express art in many forms.
“Singapore has a lot of talents to offer and discover and we are eager to further inspire, explore, and fuel up the creativity and passion of everyone who are and want to be part of the growing maker community in the country,” Lee added.
StarHub pay TV subscribers will have access to Makeful’s vibrant and up-to-date programming lineup which features beloved maker influencers from around the world including Brojects, Sarah Richardson, Paul La France; and more Makeful original series.
“We are thrilled to announce that StarHub TV customers will be the first outside of Canada to experience the Makeful brand,” said Lee Soo Hui, Head of Content Business Unit, StarHub. “We have a great working relationship with Blue Ant Media and are pleased to join hands, yet again, to bring Makeful to Singapore viewers. Makeful’s wide variety of home improvement, design, décor, style, craft and DIY content has contributed to its growing popularity in Canada and we are confident the channel can repeat its success here.”
Makeful HD will be available on StarHub TV Channel 436. Subscribers can enjoy a free preview of the channel for four weeks from the launch date.
