The Invisible Pangolin examines friendship and inclusivity through the representation of animals native to Singapore.
Gateway Theatre proudly presents “The Invisible Pangolin“, an hour-long production that is tailored for children aged 5 to 8. This empowering play is a transformative exploration that nurtures empathy, understanding and resilience in the hearts of young viewers, where they will also get to learn about the key characteristics of animals native to Singapore.
The play follows the story of Penny the Sunda Pangolin, as she navigates her anxiety in school and her fear of being seen by others. Through witnessing her trials and triumphs, the audience can expect to walk away with insights into the value of friendship, the importance of being inclusive, the art of saying “no” in an uncomfortable situation, and how to give space to a friend who says “no”. Being an endangered species of mammal that is naturally shy and solitary, the Sunda Pangolin is an apt parallel to the introverts who walk among us. Be surprised, touched, and tickled by this heart-warming script, where not only the shy one is invisible.
Held at Gateway Theatre, Black Box, patrons can enjoy the Early Bird price at $24 (from 8 to 21 June), and the Standard price at $30 from 22 June onwards (prices are exclusive of SISTIC’s booking fee).
School shows are available from 23 – 31 July, while public shows will be held on 27 July 11am, 2pm and 5pm, as well as on 28 July, 11am and 2pm. This English-language production is designed as a relaxed performance, and a designated calm room will also be available. Embracing inclusivity, the show is accessible to wheelchair users and individuals with mobility restrictions.
