Kallang Alive Sport Management (KASM) delivered a strong pipeline of events in 2023 that brought communities together and drove a 30% growth in sports, entertainment and lifestyle event days at the Singapore Sports Hub this year as compared to 2019 (pre-COVID).
The events hosted at the Singapore Sports Hub this year spanned music genres, sporting and lifestyle interests that catered to a diverse range of patrons and communities. These included:
- Over 140 National School Games and school sports events held at multiple venues;
- Over 20,000 hours dedicated to national athletes’ training at various venues across the Singapore Sports Hub;
- International sport events that were new to this region such as the FIBA Intercontinental Cup which was played in Asia for the first time, and Hyrox’s debut fitness race in Southeast Asia;
- Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon where participants of the only World Athletics Gold Label race in Southeast Asia finished their race inside the National Stadium;
- 14th Women’s World Floorball Championships (WFC) taking place at the OCBC Arena this December. This will be only the second time that the biennial Women’s WFC is held outside of Europe, with the first also in Singapore in 2005;
- Sold-out performances by leading International and Asian artistes with Jacky Cheung 60+ Concert Tour setting a record for the most number of shows by an artiste in a single leg of a concert tour in Singapore; and
- Festive celebrations and grassroots events that strengthened community bonds. Over 200,000 participants attended our Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Deepavali, Racial Harmony Day and National Day celebrations.
Celebrating KASM First Anniversary
This December marks the first anniversary of the handover of the Singapore Sports Hub and KASM is celebrating the occasion with the community with a festive light-up and three-weekends of fun-filled activities at the Singapore Sports Hub. Hub partners and the community witnessed the festive light-up officiated by Minister for Culture, Community and Youth & Second Minister for Law, Edwin Tong.
“It is wonderful to see the progressive transformation that has taken place at the Singapore Sports Hub over the past year. We have introduced various offerings and programming as we work towards establishing the Sports Hub as a community icon that Singaporeans can identify with and be a part of. Singaporeans and visitors can look forward to even more in 2024, with the opening of the Kallang Football and Tennis Hubs, a stellar line-up of artistes scheduled to perform, new retail and lifestyle offerings, and more sport and community activities for all to enjoy,” said Minister Edwin Tong.
“KASM’s first anniversary marks a year of achievements and the beginning of a legacy. From inception, we have focused on two fronts. First, integrating the team and building a culture of excellence and resilience. Second, investing in and raising the bar in sports and entertainment programming for the Kallang Alive precinct and Singapore,” said Keith Magnus, Chairman, KASM.
“By actively engaging with local partners to bring our communities together throughout the year, and quickly establishing relationships and partnerships with industry players in the sports and entertainment world both regionally and globally, we have curated a calendar of world-class events that we hope our patrons will enjoy.
“In the year ahead, we will continue to see a wide spectrum of community and school events, and we will be welcoming international artistes the likes of Mayday, Enhypen, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift, and sporting events and family entertainment including Singapore Smash, Disney on Ice, FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup and HSBC SVNS Singapore. We expect to draw close to 1 million visitors to the Singapore Sports Hub based on these events alone. These events are testimony to Singapore’s position as a leading destination for live sports and entertainment in Asia,” added Mr Magnus. “As we celebrate our first anniversary, we reaffirm our commitment to excellence, inclusivity and the transformative power of sports and entertainment to our community and economy.”
Over the coming three weekends, the public can join in fun Christmas activities including festive games like Peppermint Pool and Candy Cane Hockey and enjoy live performances. There will also be special appearances by Santa Claus and Santarina for that picture perfect round up of this joyous season.
Exciting events and experiences in 2024
2024 promises no less variety with highly anticipated sporting events such as the newly revamped HSBC SVNS Singapore, FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup and FIBA Intercontinental Cup. In entertainment, the Sports Hub will continue to welcome leading International and Asian artistes including Mayday, Coldplay, Taylor Swift, and their fans from around the region. Hosting Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” is a significant milestone for the Singapore Sports Hub as Singapore’s National Stadium will be the only venue in Asia outside of Japan that Taylor Swift will be performing at. Close to 300,000 fans from Singapore and Asia are expected to attend the concerts held inside the National Stadium.
With technology investments and infrastructure developments within the Kallang Alive precinct such as the Kallang Football and Tennis Hubs which are due to be completed at the end of 2023, there will be more opportunities for a greater array of sporting events alongside community programming and new retail and lifestyle experiences for all at the Singapore Sports Hub.
