Calling fans of LINE FRIENDS! This Christmas season, Watsons introduces its special edition LINE FRIENDS themed reusable bags in Singapore stores islandwide, as part of its #SayNoToPlasticBags campaign to reduce the consumption of plastic bags.
These adorable LINE FRIENDS themed reusable bags, made with 100% recycled plastic material (rPET), come in three design variations. They are CONY, BROWN and SALLY, with each new design released every fortnight on 3, 17 and 31 December respectively.
Along with its newly introduced Bring Your Own Bag (BYOB) Tuesday, shopping is made greener and more meaningful at Watsons with these 100% rPET reusable bags. $0.50 will be donated to World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF-Singapore) to fund their conservation efforts, including critical projects related to reducing plastic in nature with every purchase of a LINE FRIENDS reusable bag (RRP $15.90) or a minimum spend of $18 nett in a single receipt, where Watsons’ members get to purchase these reusable bags at a special price of $4.50 and non-members at $6.50.
Watsons Kicked Off Bring Your Own Bag (BYOB) On Tuesday, 1st December 2020 Across All 100 Stores Islandwide Yesterday
In addition, Watsons’ Bring Your Own Bag (BYOB) Tuesday was rolled out yesterday, 1 December, across all 100 stores islandwide, that will continue on every Tuesday.
As part of its #SayNoToPlasticBags sustainability campaign, Watsons’ Bring Your Own Bag (BYOB) Tuesday aims to reduce the consumption of plastic bags in its retail operations. Customers are charged $0.10 for every transaction involving a request for plastic bag(s) and 100% of proceeds from the bag charge will be donated to support World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF-Singapore)’s conservation efforts, including critical projects related to reducing plastic in nature under PACT (Plastic ACTion).
The newly-launched weekly initiative was met with positive response yesterday as 73% of shoppers across all 100 stores did not request for any plastic bag upon payment for their purchases on the first day of roll out. Many shoppers brought their own reusable bags or purchased Watsons’ 100% polypropylene, non-woven reusable bags. Close to 200 of these specially-designed reusable bags were sold yesterday.
Watsons is highly encouraged by the positive response of its shoppers towards the initiative and would like to thank them for their support to #SayNoToPlasticBags.
The next Bring Your Own Bag (BYOB) Tuesday will be happening on 8 December 2020, Tuesday across all Watsons stores islandwide.
