Gardens by the Bay is celebrating a decade of bringing the magic of cherry blossoms to Singapore with its largest and most diverse collection of Sakura floral display yet! Since its inaugural edition in 2016, the annual showcase has mesmerized visitors with stunning sakura blooms, and this year, it reaches a new milestone with a record-breaking 440 cherry blossom trees spanning 48 varieties.
Presented in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Singapore, the 2025 edition showcases the hidden gems of Fukuoka Prefecture and will run until April 6, 2025, at the Flower Dome.
A Spectacular Display of Cherry Blossoms
This year’s showcase features an extraordinary collection of cherry blossom trees, including rare and beloved varieties:
🌿 Japanese Weeping Cherry (Prunus yedoensis Yoshino Shidare) – A rare sight even in Japan, this elegant tree is known for its gracefully cascading branches adorned with clusters of soft pink flowers.
🌺 Japanese Hill Cherry (Prunus lannesiana Kawazu-zakura) – Making its debut, this striking variety native to Japan stands out with its large, vibrant blossoms that range from deep pink to an almost reddish hues—unlike the typically pastel-colored cherry blossoms.
💖 Prunus Accolade – A crowd favourite, this variety has been a mainstay since the first Sakura floral display, captivating visitors with its abundant clusters of pale pink blooms.
Bringing the hidden gems of Fukuoka Prefecture to Singapore
Beyond the breathtaking cherry blossoms, this year floral display offers visitors a cultural immersion into Fukuoka Prefecture, a region known for blending rich traditions with modern creativity.
🏯 Kokura Castle Recreation – A beautiful recreation of Kokura Castle, an iconic landmark of Kitakyushu City, stands amidst the sakura blooms.
🎋 130 enchanting Bamboo Lanterns from the Takeakari Bamboo Lantern Festival – These enchanting lanterns, specially brought in from Kitakyushu, are made from bamboo harvested from abandoned forests—a sustainable initiative that reduces environmental impact while involving volunteers in the lantern-making process.
🌙 Yozakura (Night Sakura) Experience – Back for a second time, this mesmerising night-time display sees the bamboo lanterns illuminating the Flower Dome, enhancing the ambiance with warm, golden light. The experience is further elevated with a 5.6m-tall Phantom Castle, an artistic interpretation of a lost castle tower said to have once existed in Fukuoka.
