Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) held its first ever RWS Street Eats Showdown today at Malaysian Food Street featuring two accomplished RWS chefs against authentic Thai & Vietnamese chefs. Are you excited? We sure are! 

Our Parenting World (OPW) team is one of the judges for this inaugural showdown event and as foodies, we are looking forward to try out the street food and support the chefs. Who will win?

The event is hosted by Pornsak Sukhumvit aka Chua En Lai who spiced up the showdown with his humour. The 1st round is between Chef Lorenz Hoja from RWS’s L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon (Two Michelin Stars) and Thai Chef Aom Pongmorn from Bangkok’s revered ‘King of Phad Thai’ restaurant Baan Phadtha in cooking the best Phad Thai.

The 2nd round which is the final round is between Chef Benjamin Halat from CURATE and Chef Steven Long of Hanoi’s Sen Tay Ho on coming up with the best Vietnamese Grilled Pork with Rice Noodles.

Resorts World Sentosa’s Inaugural RWS Street Eats from 12 – 20 August 2017 – First published on 5 August 2017

The inaugural RWS Street Eats will celebrate the rich heritage of Southeast Asia’s street food culture over a  9 day event featuring 20 original street food stalls specially curated from Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and Singapore, five Southeast Asian countries all in one location at Malaysian Food Street. 

Crowd favourites include Nona Manis, Nhā Hāng Viet, Baan Phad Thai as well as Chatuchak’s very own Foon Ta Lop, which was named “One of the World’s Best Street Food” by NBCNEWS Destination Travel, You will also find signature stalls such as the famous Jalan Alor Star KL Hokkien Mee, Heun Kee Claypot Chicken Rice and Penang Lim Brothers’ Char Koay Teow from Resorts World Sentosa’s very own Malaysian Food Street. Come sample their delicious specialties from only S$4 onwards.

Kick back and relax at the Beer Garden, with live music performances and open mic sessions on weekend evenings. Not to be missed are the pop-up booths along the Waterfront Promenade as more food and retail therapy await. Durian lovers, be sure to drop by the Tropical Zone to whet your cravings!

Two accomplished RWS chefs have thrown down the gauntlet and challenged two renowned experts in cooking a better version of their famous national dishes at the ultimate RWS Street Eats Showdown on Saturday, 12 August. 

Our Parenting World is honoured to be the judge in the first-ever epic battle between RWS fine-dining Western chefs and some of the best cooks from Southeast Asia!

Who will win? Please stay tuned to our update. 

Kicking off the first day of the inaugural RWS Street Eats, Chef Lorenz Hoja from L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon (Two Michelin Stars) will challenge Thai Chef Aom Pongmorn in cooking the best Phad Thai while Chef Benjamin Halat from CURATE will challenge Vietnamese Chef Steven Long to whip up the most amazing Vietnamese Grilled Pork with Rice Noodles!

These challenges will be hosted and moderated by honorary “peace-keeper” Pornsak Sukhumvit (entertainer and celebrity Chua Enlai in his Thai character from TV comedy, The Noose).

Our Parenting World team is back at one of our favourite places, Universal Studios Singapore (USS), this time, chocolate lovers will be delighted to enter into the choco-licious world featuring uniquely-themed zones with interactive activities where parents and children can look forward to have deliciously chocolate fun together!

The Chocolate Garden is located at Soundstage 28 behind the Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase. Hmm … yummy, we just can’t wait …

There are many interesting and interactive activities that you can look forward to participate at the Chocolate Garden.

Our Parenting World team highlight the activities that you can look forward to take part: 

1) A Cocoa Hedge Maze

Walk through the maze and look for hidden surprises, collect as many as you can! Hint: It has to do with chocolates. Have fun looking for delicious hidden treasure at the maze.

2) A Fondue Garden

This must be one of the favourite parts of Chocolate Garden for both adults and children. Satisfy your chocolate cravings, dip, enjoy and savour marshmallows dipped in various delicious chocolate sauces like dark and white chocolate, pandan and strawberry chocolate flavours. Best of all, the chocolate dips are free flow for you to enjoy! 

3) Lollipop land

Look at the huge and colourful giant lollipops!

You can attempt to create, decorate and plant giant lollipop to be part of the candy-coated Lollipop Land. Kids can also use their imagination and creativity to colour their lollipops.

4) Character Meet and Greet Sessions

Look out for friendly character appearances such as Candice Cupcake (Mama Cookie’s sweetest creation), Mama Cookie (the creator of Chocolate Garden), Sesame Street’s Cookie Monster and Universal’s Chocolate Man. We are so excited to see them and don’t miss the opportunity to come up close with them and take pictures. They are super friendly!

5) Cookie and cupcake decorating sessions at S$6 per person.
