Our Parenting World team is very excited to be at Northpoint Shopping Centre to see Singa and the Kindness Cubbies and to learn more about the importance of using the five ‘magic words’! For most adults, we are all so familiar with Singa The Lion also known as Singa the Courtesy Lion.
Singa was a mascot, created to promote and educate the public on courtesy, graciousness and eventually kindness. Its Courtesy Campaign comes with the slogan, ”Courtesy is part of our tradition, it’s so nice to be courteous.” Yes, indeed and it is good to spread this good behaviour to our younger generation to make Singapore and the world a better place to live in!
Join Singa and the Kindness Cubbies Live on stage as they bring to us a sing and dance performance where audience learn the importance of using the five ‘magic words’. They are ‘thank you’, ‘you’re welcome’, ‘please’, ‘excuse me’ and ‘I’m sorry’. It is an entertaining and meaningful show that will educate and emphasize the importance of being kind and considerate to others.
Besides the live show, Singapore Kindness Movement has set up three activity booths for participants to learn more about kindness. Our team visited ‘Kindness! Spot it!’ first where we are required to spot the kind acts on the activity sheet and see how many can we spot within the time limit. Through this activity, participants learn that a nation of kindness start with me and you by being considerate in the public place.
At the Word Scramble activity booth, we learnt to make our conversation kinder by rearranging the words to include the 5 magic phrases of ‘thank you’, ‘you’re welcome’, ‘please’, ‘excuse me’ and ‘I’m sorry’ within the time limit.
At the Love Letters booth, both parents and children are welcome to join in writing a letter to someone at home about something you would like to tell him/her about. Put the letter in an envelope, seal it and drop it at Kindsville Mailbox kindly sponsored by Singapore Post.
What a thoughtful and sweet gesture!
Get up close and personal with Singa and The Kindness Cubbies at the Meet & Greet Session after the show. Spend $10 at the Singapore Kindness Movement merchandise booth for an opportunity to have your photo taken with them. You can get your hands on the limited edition merchandise which are perfect as gifts or as collectibles. Please take note that it is limited to the first 20 customers per show time only.
Come and take part in the activity booths which are packed with games and activities which will be open from 11.00am – 9.00pm. Parents are welcome to join in and make learning all about kindness and graciousness a fun family affair.
