Dive into Family Fun & Kids’ Activities at BookFest@Singapore 2017

BookFest Singapore 2017

BookFest@Singapore 2017 is Singapore’s largest and most successful book and stationery event. Back with its 11th edition this school holidays, it is a stop not to be missed for the family.

Here are some highlights great for the whole family:

Fun Activities & Educational Competitions for Children

The Meet & Greet segment at BookFest has always been a popular favourite amongst the kids. This year, more exciting characters will be available to charm the children up-close! Register your child for the My Little Pony Meet & Greet to catch the pony characters in a whimsical song-and-dance action live on stage and you might even get the chance to take a snapshot with them! You can also catch the all-time favourite Pikachu at the Shogakukan Asia Stage Special: Pokémon Let’s Compare! Omnibus. Back by popular demand are Geronimo Stilton and Squly, who are gearing up to wow the crowd once more. These adorable life-sized characters are guaranteed to get your child squealing in delight.

For a token fee, you can also sign your kids up for the My Little Pony Colouring Contest, and the Bodhi & Friends Colouring Contest & Zumba Party, both of which will see your child putting his/her creative energy to good use through arts and dance! Want a good platform for your child to express herself? Register her for the all-new Miss POPULAR Princess now for the chance to dress up and captivate the audience with their poise and flair as they showcase their special talents.

Star Wars fans, both young and old, will love the Star Wars Concept Booth filled with a wide range of Star Wars limited-edition merchandise, such as the all-new Special Edition Star Wars POWERbot™ VR7000 Robot Vacuum Cleaner from Samsung that will let you clean up the house in style, as well as the Star Wars App-Enabled Droids like R2D2™, BB8™, and its dark-side version known as BB-9E™ released by Sphero. Families will also be in for a treat with the limited-edition Star Wars™-inspired ice cream flavours from Udders Ice Cream, such as Darth Vader (Dark Vanilla with Cranberries) and Chewbacca (Chewy Fudge with Brownies)!

While the holidays is a great time for fun and games, there’s no reason to pass up a chance to broaden their mind at the same time. Tickle their grey cells with the POPULAR Spelling Challenge to hone their spelling skills and win attractive prizes! Otherwise, you can also bring them along to the finals of the National Malay Creative Reading Competition (NMCRC) and the National Chinese Creative Reading Competition (NCCRC) to witness the children’s passion for their mother tongue language and who knows, they might inspire your kid too!

Cooking Demonstrations & Educational Workshops for Families

If you enjoy whipping up a storm in the kitchen, you can look forward to meeting MediaCorp artiste Ben Yeo, as he serves up some of the dishes from his latest cookbook “Healthy Meals for Kids”《这样煮,孩子才爱吃》. Malaysia’s top-rated celebrity Sheila Rusly, whose claim to fame is the popular cooking show Ketuk-Ketuk Ramadan, will also grace the event to showcase her culinary skills. They will share valuable tips and interesting recipes alongside Chef Lin Norzailina Nordin and Chef Amy Wong! Prefer some fun and games instead? Catch Felicia Chin, the ambassador for Nestle, at the radio booth on 17 December (Sunday), from 5.30pm to 6.30pm, where she will be around to interact with the crowd in a Q&A session, some game-play, photo-taking and more!

If you’re keen to make full use of the school holidays to work on preparing your child for the new school year, be sure to check out a range of educational workshops like “Secrets to Score in Primary School Maths Problem Sums”, “Start Your Primary Science Journey Right!”, “An Early Head Start to Primary One” and more. These engaging workshops will help parents become more involved in their child’s academic progress and become better equipped to help them manoeuvre challenges at school.
