Mid-Autumn festival is coming soon, its time to indulge in mooncakes! With so many mooncakes available in the market now, Our Parenting World team tried out some of the delicious mooncakes.

This year, the well-known Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant at Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel presents a collection of 11 exquisite, low-sugar mooncake creations as well as a limited-edition premium gift set. Its mooncake creations is a marriage of Mid-Autumn panache, flavours and tradition. The mooncakes are available from now till 15 September 2016. 

The mooncakes are beautifully encased in an elegant two-tier red treasure chest hot-stamped with oriental trellis motif. It is perfect as a gift to convey your best wishes to your recipients for this Mid Autumn Festival!

Our team tried out 2 different sets of mooncakes, first set is Assorted Snowskin Mooncakes which consist of 8 pieces per box with the following: 

  • Chocolate Brownie with Cookies & Honeycomb (NEW)
  • Salted Caramel with Peanut Praline (NEW)
  • Sencha Green Tea with Japanese Red Bean
  • White Lotus Seed Paste with Egg Yolk

These lovely delicate bite-sized pieces of mooncakes make it easy for you to pop it into your mouth! You will enjoy the deliciously smooth snow skin and the opportunity to enjoy four different pastes. Each of the paste has its own unique flavour especially Chocolate Brownie with Cookies & Honeycomb and Salted Caramel with Peanut Praline.

These are the two new flavours being introduced. First new flavour is chocolate brownie with cookies & honeycomb. The paste is perfectly combined with chocolate brownie with unique filling of ganache enrobed in the richness of white lotus seed paste with honeycomb at the centre of the mooncake. It comes with rich chocolate flavour combines with crunchy bits of chocolate cookies. Second new flavour is salted caramel with peanut praline is deliciously smooth with crunchy bits of peanut praline. You will like this sweet and salty combination with the salted caramel and the taste of salted peanuts wrapped within a core of creamy chocolate shell. Yummy!

The mooncakes are all thoughtfully made with less sugar so you don’t have to worry about it being too sweet.

The second set of mooncakes is Assorted Baked Mooncakes which is back by popular demand consist of 4 pieces of baked mooncakes per box with the following: White Lotus Seed Paste with Black Truffle, Roasted Chestnut, Waxed Duck & Single Yolk.

Look out for its unique fillings like White Lotus Seed Paste with Black Truffle, this unique combination of the aromatic creamy lotus paste and black truffle which is well known as the “black diamond” in the culinary realm gives off a flavourful nutty and woody aroma. Another unique filling is Waxed Duck & Single Yolk is tasty with meaty flavour from the waxed duck. 

For those who like baked mooncakes, you will enjoy the baked mooncakes series with deliciously smooth fragrant white lotus paste. The baked mooncakes are made with less sugar and with just the right touch of sweetness. You can be assured of the mooncakes’ quality and taste as all the mooncakes, each piece is meticulously handcrafted by Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant’s team of culinary masters helmed by Executive Chinese Chef Brian Wong.
