Before we embarked on our journey into the aquarium, our team was invited to take a look at how the aquarium team feeds the sharks. The sharks are fed with fat, juicy squids. We have read that blue sharks fancy squids and so does the hammerhead sharks at the aquarium.

We had a close up view of the Shark Seas Habitat where over 100 sharks across 12 different species, including the endangered scalloped hammerhead shark, silvertip shark and sandbar shark can be seen at the aquarium.

Hammerhead sharks and also other sharks are fed with delicious squids during the feeding session.

Sharks are endangered because of human impacts and activities. It is important that we protect the sharks and stop eating them especially for shark fins soups.

While you are at the aquarium, please stop by and visit Shark Exhibition which is held in collaboration with James Cook University.

Fish symbolise ‘plenty’, so go BIG on abundance as you learn more about the Kings of the Ocean, get up close to their jaws, tails, skeletons and eggs, and look inside a life-size shark! It will be a meaningful and educating exhibition for everyone to find out more about sharks.
