Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2016


Singaporeans and visitors from all over the world can look forward to the most anticipated event of the year, Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2016! This year, we will celebrate the New Year with a hopeful heart about the endless possibilities that 2016 will bring at the 11th edition of Marina Bay Singapore Countdown.

Our Parenting World Team listed the activities that you can expect to see and join in the celebration on New Year’s Eve around Marina Bay:



There will be an array of exciting activities at the largest Countdown celebration in Singapore which is jointly organised by Esplanade – Theatres by the Bay and Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA). In addition, you can look forward to a 8 minutes spectacular firework display, festive lighting of buildings around the bay and a special light projection show on the facade of the Fullerton Hotel.

3D Projection on Fullerton Building

Singaporeans and visitors can enjoy the 5 minutes 3D projection every hour nightly from 26 to 31 December 2015 featuring a digital art showcase of our nation’s identity and with a rousing soundtrack arranged by Symmetrica’s Felipe Grytz and based on Victory, a composition by Singapore instrumental rock band, Paint the Sky Red’s.

On New Year’s Eve, public can look forward to the final showcase beginning at 11.55pm that culminates in a countdown sequence to midnight followed immediately by the firework display.

Festive Lightings of Buildings

On 31 December 2015, New Year’s Eve, selected buildings on the city skyline around Marina Bay will feature co-ordinated lightings before the countdown sequence. These buildings will be lit in different hues of red.

Show Schedule:

The lighting displays will take place for 5 minutes, on the 15-min, 30-min, 45-min mark from 7pm onwards on 31 December 2015. 

Location: Public will be able to see the themed lighting on Ocean Financial Centre, OCBC Centre, Maybank Tower, One Raffles Place and Millenia Tower.

Wishes for the Future


Look out for the 20,000 wishing spheres on display installed on the Marina Bay that represent the collective wishes of approximately 500,000 Singaporeans and visitors for Singapore’s future. Netizens and Singaporeans overseas can also make virtual wishes at

Something for Everyone Around Marina Bay Sand

There are a range of ticketed and non-ticketed events around the Bay and it will be an evening that promises something for everyone.

These events include:

2) The Marina Waterfront Bazaar where the public can enjoy a festive shopping from as early as 3pm.

Fireworks Display

Fireworks display on Glorious Singapore, the 8 minutes firework display will span the entire Marina Bay for the first time. The fireworks can span a maximum height of 200 metres with 45 types of effects including scrambling sky comets and mines, multi break shells with tails. Members of the public can look forward to enjoy the better view from more locations especially with the opening of the Jubilee Bridge. The spectacular firework display is also accompanied by a rousing original score composed by young music director Julian Wong.

Fun Interactive Learning Playground at The City

Our Parenting World team checked out The City located at #03-04A Liang Court which is a fun, educational and exciting first-of-its-kind playtime experience for children from 2 to 8 years old.

The City recently celebrated its third year and let our team shows you what The City has to offer: 


“I am learning to be a police officer”. 

Children will enjoy and get to immerse themselves in various imaginative and interactive learning stations at The City.

At each station, children will get to have fun exploring and learning about the various adults roles and professions in a fun and safe environment. 


At the Road and Traffic Police Station, you can learn how to play the role of a police officer, drive a car, know more about traffic rules, understand the road signs and become more aware of road safety. 


At the Post Office Station, children will have the opportunity to make their own artwork by coloring the postcards, learn more about the logistics of mailing, explore the world and Singapore’s city map and know how to distribute letters to mailboxes. 


At the Beauty Station, girls will be excited to learn how to be a fashion designer and have fun role playing being a hairstylist or a makeup artist with a wide range of beauty accessories. 


“I am a Chef and my speciality is pizzas.”

At the Café Station, it looks just like the real thing which is scaled to child-size measurements. Children can dress up and role play as a chef or waiter or act as a customer ordering food from the Café. 


“I am a fireman, all ready to embark on my rescue mission!”

At the Fire Station, children can have fun playing the role of a fireman. 



At the Heroes Station, this area is where heroes from real life and known action figures gathered around, it enables children to let them explore their fantasies and construct places with the giant construction blocks. 



At Our Classroom Station, children get to role play as a teacher, or play and learn from educational games like exploring numbers, alphabets, learn about science, maths or simply have endless fun playing with the toys. 


At The City, children can enjoy dressing up as their favourite Superheroes. 




At the Supermarket Station, where the station is well stocked with all kinds of products featuring clean empty packages for a one-of-its-kind play environment to educate the children about the importance of recycling. Children can role play as a shopper or a retailer. Children will get to learn about the value of money, how to calculate the costs, identify the grocery items and many more. 



“I am a doctor reading the X-ray of my patient.”

At the Health Clinic Station, children have the opportunity to role play as a doctor, nurse or a patient. Children will learn more about the human body, the importance of body and oral hygiene and having a healthy body.

The City is open daily from 10am to 7pm, it is a fun and educational interactive learning playground where children will have the opportunity to learn and role play in various professions like Doctors, Cashiers, Chefs and even Superheroes. The City even offers Birthday packages for an unforgettable birthday celebrations.
